The Hellenic Association of Furriers (HAF) announced the winners of FEA’s 2017 Greek Young Designers’ Competition on Saturday April 1, 2017 in Athens, Greece. The competition, which takes place during Fur Excellence in Athens, is an annual, multi-round contest co-sponsored by HAF and NAFA.
This year’s competition was themed “Light, Space, Air”. Although many students from Greek fashion and design schools submitted applications, only 11 finalists were selected to compete.
First, second, and third place were selected by an esteemed panel of judges who evaluated each of the finalists’ portfolios based on innovation, creativity, coherence, functionality and connection to the competition theme. Included in the panel of judges were NAFA representatives Rob Cahill, Senior VP of Marketing, Bobby Poulios, VP of Buyer Relations, Oksana Moroz, Marketing Director of Eastern Europe and Ekaterina Popova, Russia Marketing Representative.
FEA’s 2017 Greek Young Designers’ Competition winners are as follows:
First Prize was awarded to Christina Metsou from the Technological Educational Institute of Central Macedonia.
Third Prize was awarded to Vasiliki Grammenou from the Institute Of Vocational Training (AKMI) in Athens.
The three award winners will receive a one-week, all expenses paid, trip to Toronto, Canada this August to participate a Studio NAFA workshop, where they will learn how to use mink, fox and wild furs as part of their designs.
NAFA is proud to support young designers in Greece and around the world. Since the inception of the Young Designers’ Competition six years ago, NAFA has continued to inspire young people to seek out careers in the fur industry by hosting technical workshops, providing fur pelts for special projects, and sponsoring this competition.
