On the evening of November 22, guests gathered in Minsk, Belarus, for the 4-th annual Remix-Eurasia competition. Organized by the Russian Fur Union, in association with the International Fur Federation (IFF), this event provides young designers the opportunity to learn, create and explore their creativity in the fur sector, and to present their designs to the Eastern European fur and fashion media.

NAFA was represented at the competition by Oksana Moroz, Marketing Director for Eastern Europe and Katia Popova, NAFA Marketing Representative in Russia. Prior to the evening’s events, Ms. Moroz presented to the audience at the Fur Master-class workshop. The presentation highlighted NAFA and its endeavours as well as showcased a wide range of NAFA’s high quality ranched and wild fur samples. She spoke as well about latest fur trends of the coming season. In addition, Ms. Moroz served as a judge of the competition.

This year’s 11 finalists, representing Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Belarus, each created beautiful, inventive designs.  All participants were awarded with special diplomas, but the competition winners also received additional special prizes.

First place was awarded to Tanziya Sadrieva of Russia. In addition to her Eurasia Remix award, Ms. Sadrieva was also awarded an exclusive NAFA prize – an all-expenses paid trip to Toronto, Canada to attend a creative workshop at Studio NAFA in the summer of 2018.

The judges were particularly impressed with Ms. Sadrieva’s creative design initiative and innovative techniques in rather unexpected combination of wolf and sheared mink in one garment. Her use of intarsia technique in vibrant colours created volume and unique visual elements on this garment.

Second place was awarded to Svetlana Ivanova of Belarus. Ms. Ivanova will join First place and NAFA Award winner Tanziya Sadrieva to compete in the first round of the IFF REMIX competition, with the hope of qualifying for the finale fashion show at the OneMilano Fair in February 2018.

Following the awards presentation, the audience was treated to a special presentation showcasing the collections of leading fur companies such as Fashion House Sergey Efremov, Russia, Tykafurlux, Ukraine, TOSATO, Turkey and GNL, Belarus.

The evening was a great success for all who participated, and a testament to the inspiration that Remix-Eurasia continues to provide to students, businesses and designers from all ends of the fur sector.
